Crusaders Soccer Club Adds Chris Ahrens to Guide Strategy and Logistics

SAN DIEGO, CA – Crusaders Soccer Club is pleased to welcome Chris Ahrens back to the club in a new role as Strategic and Logistics Advisor. Ahrens brings a unique perspective to our community, shaped by years of international competition and a deep commitment to sports leadership.

As a U.S. Paralympic National Team veteran, Ahrens represented the United States 54 times in international competition, namely the 2012 London Paralympic Games and two World Cups. His experience on the world stage gives Crusaders’ players and coaches firsthand insight into the dedication and resilience required to reach the highest levels of the game.

Beyond his playing career, Chris is an active leader in the soccer community. He currently serves as Chair of the U.S. Soccer Athletes’ Council and as a member of the U.S. Soccer Board of Directors. His involvement in national-level governance ensures that Crusaders Soccer Club remains connected to the broader landscape of the sport in America.

Ahrens has long been a part of the San Diego sports community, having previously coached for Crusaders from 2018 to 2021. In addition to his sports background, he is a highly regarded educator, recently named the 2025 California and 2026 SHAPE America Western District Adapted Physical Education Teacher of the Year.

“We are glad to have Chris Ahrens return to Crusaders as an advisor,” said Victor Melendez. “His background as an elite athlete and his work with U.S. Soccer will be great resources for our staff and families as we continue to improve our player experience.”
